Yard Keeper
Part-time (30+ hours per week)

We at Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre are looking for a permanent part-time Yard Keeper for our beautiful purpose built premises on Pickering Road, Cambridge. The hours will be Monday to Friday 7.30am – 10.30am then 2.00pm – 5.00pm (6 hours per day, 30 hours per week). In addition, you will work one weekend day (either a Saturday or a Sunday) per week. Weekend hours may fluctuate dependent on patient numbers but will be no more than 6 hours. Our premises include 15 boxes, outdoor yards and paddocks, an arena and a clinical workup area set on 6 acres. We are looking for that exceptional person that will take extreme pride in presenting our yard and ensuring our patients are kept comfortable during their stay to the highest standards.
In this role, the majority of your work will be unsupervised, so we are looking for an individual that can self manage their workload well, with a focus on great time management. Your main focus will be ensuring our premises are kept neat and tidy and boxes and equipment are kept to a high standard on a daily basis, as well as ensuring general maintenance is seen to including landscaping, general repairs and the like. You will be working within a team of highly experienced veterinarians, veterinary nurses and administration staff so a team player is required with a pleasant “can do” attitude and professional manner.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
· Be happy to handle a wide range of horses (including young thoroughbreds and stallions)
· Be physically fit – this job requires a high level of physical work including mucking out, stacking feed/hay, water blasting, lawnmowing, spraying, painting, and harrowing.
· Be proactive in your approach towards maintenance and have a passion for maintaining a well presented landscape.
· Have an understanding and appreciation for Biohazard and Hygiene standards.
· Have proven customer service experience – this job entails meeting and greeting our clients, as well as liaising with the wider team.
· Have a full clean drivers license.
