Vanessa Way

I was incredibly lucky to be introduced to the equine veterinarian experts at Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre through my involvement with high performance in my international campaign towards the London Olympics.

Over the last decade they have become an essential service for not only my team of equine horses , but also my pupils throughout New Zealand as I find the service they provide is exceptional.

Currently a member of the high performance squad with my own personal team of seven dressage horses of various levels and an elite dressage coach, I continue to plan again to represent my country on the international stage.

Lucky for me the oldest Olympian in my field was 72 years old (Oscar Swhan of Sweden) so I’m actually just a young chap in comparison!!

WEVC Star Spotters Scholarship 2023-2024 season

We are privileged to support the ESNZ Star Spotter Scholarship which aims to introduce 20 aspiring riders from each of the 20 geographical regions in NZ to the sport of jumping.  These riders are new to the sport, have never been registered with ESNZ, and the scholarship offers them a valuable opportunity to thrive.

Each recipient is paired with a dedicated local mentor who will guide them through their first season at shows.  The mentor’s assistance may include coaching, selecting appropriate shows, understanding entry systems, course walking and building confidence during competitions.

The selected rider will enjoy a host of benefits including 1 year of ESNZ Rider Membership, 1 year of Equine registration, 1 year of Jumping discipline start and a WEVC sponsored polo shirt!!

The recipients for the 2023-2024 season have now been picked.  You can view the lucky horse and rider’s for each area at the following link: https://www.nzequestrian.org.nz/2023/07/star-spotters-back-for-23-24-with-new-sponsor/
