About our clinic: We have a permanent full-time (40-hour minimum) position available for a motivated Equine Veterinarian starting in early 2026. The opportunity is based out of the Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre in Cambridge; a full-service equine clinic located in the heart of the thoroughbred breeding, racing and general equestrian community in New Zealand. With our state-of-the-art facility and highly experienced team, we cater to all equine athletes and leisure horses. We are well equipped with digital imaging modalities, nuclear scintigraphy, video and dynamic endoscopy, modern theatre and hospital facilities. At WEVC we are passionate about horses and committed to providing world class care to our patients and clients. |
Your work with us: You will work in conjunction with a team of thirteen equine veterinarians, 4 interns and support staff. The role will be primarily ambulatory based equine work but with an additional focus in either one or both areas of veterinary care: reproduction and medicine. Our ideal applicant would be an equine veterinarian with 4 years + experience in the above areas and who can confidently join our after hours and anaesthesia schedule. Reproductive work is primarily Thoroughbred studs with some Sporthorse reproductive frozen semen and ET work done at the clinic. Ongoing professional development is encouraged both internally within the clinic, and with formal continuing education. We are committed to retaining and developing the interests of our veterinarians. The after-hours roster is up to 13 weekends per year and one weeknight per week.
